If the rains of the next few days can drop enough water in the headwater of the Manning the river will get a good clean out and the weed and slime in the fresh water part will be washed away.
This will be good for the mullet as it will bring them down stream and they will be able to school up ready to head north to breed.
At present the beaches and rocks are not safe due to the onshore winds and rough seas.
Before the bad weather tailor were being caught on Crowdy beach and whiting were taking yabbies in the mouth of the river.
Outside fishing early in the week resulted in catches of snapper, trag, mowong and pearl perch all from the northern grounds.
Spanish mackerel, longtail tuna and a few bonito were taken on trolled lures.
