In the 24 hours prior to 9am Thursday, March 22, 174mm was recorded at Forster, 194 across the bridge at Tuncurry and 172mm at Nabiac.
A total of 255mm fell at Willina, near Bunyah during the same period.
To our south, the Myall River was on flood watch at Markwell and Bulahdelah but the SES released a statement on Thursday morning early saying river was expected to peak below the minor flood level.
The Manning River is still on flood watch as good rains received across the catchment flow downstream. Upriver, Rocks Crossing recorded 107mm and Mount George 118mm while Moppy Lookout in Barrington Tops received 144mm.
Showers are predicted in Taree on Friday, March 23 and Saturday but the sun should return Sunday, with a predicted maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.
Thunderstorms could also feature on Friday and Saturday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Friday’s maximum temperature will be around 23 degrees, climbing to 27 on Saturday. Showers could return on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly cloudy. There is a strong wind warning on the coast for Friday.
