NPWS Taree-based ranger team leader, Michael Thomas said the burns are south-east of Taree and will take place east of Half Chain Road south of north of Byamee Road and west of Ratcliffe Trail.
“The burns are due to begin at about 10am and will conclude at about 4pm on each day,” Ranger Thomas said.
“People are advised that smoke from the burn may impact upon the local area and close windows and removing washing.
“Those asthma or susceptible to respiratory problems should avoid the area or remain inside with windows and doors closed.
“Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and observe and warning signs or directions from fire crews.
“The NPWS will take every opportunity to continue its hazard reduction program year-round,” Ranger Thomas said.
These burns are some of the many hazard reduction operations undertaken by NPWS across NSW each year, many with the assistance of the NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW.
This hazard reduction burn is part of the NSW Government’s $76 million package over six years to boost bushfire preparedness and double hazard reduction in the State’s national parks, where conditions allow.
