The sand spit in the mouth of the river is fishing well for whiting on yabbies, while some anglers have been using surface lures and bib lures only go down to 30cm with some success.
Bream are being caught from the river wall, Manning Point spur around the oyster racks and any rock ledges in timber in the lower part of the river.
Flathead are biting better up stream.
There are heaps of small tailor in the river but they have not attracted any jewfish up to the present time.
The Manning has developed a small flow of water above Wingham.
The river is clear and only a small amount of water is coming down.
Not enough to clean out the weeds and slime.
Crowdy Beach is producing chopper tailor on lures and bait and the southern part of the beach where the kelp has been washed up is fishing well for bream and whiting on worms and pippies.
Outside, anglers have landed Spanish mackerel to 12 kilograms, some bonito and mahi mahi around the FAD (Fish Aggregating Device).
Some of the mahi mahi are up 10 kilograms in weight.
A few small jewfish are five kilograms and have also been baited.
