“‘Let's do more together' is the theme for a festival jam-packed with great events," MidCoast Library events officer, Danielle Donnelly said.
"If you're a bit shy and have hesitated to get involved before, now's the time to head to one of our libraries and meet some like-minded local people in your neighbourhood."
For movie buffs, there is Golden Screenings at Wingham and Taree Libraries, featuring champagne and nibbles. "5 Flights Up" screens at 6pm on Thursday, April 5 at Wingham and "Victoria and Abdul" is on at 6pm on Wednesday, April 11 at Taree Library.
Grandparents will be special guests at children's Storytime sessions across regional libraries throughout the festival - and if you need to relax after that, enjoy a guided meditation session at Taree Library at 10.30am on Friday, April 6.
Forster Library features the Golden Oldies Bash with a distinct rock'n'roll flavour on Monday, April 9 from 9.30am. There will be a classic cars display, information about how to get more out of your library and enjoy a delicious morning tea provided by the Friends of the Great Lakes Library Service. On hand will be information on the services provided by the library, MidCoast Assist and council. Also there will be some great music from the rock’n’roll era and a performance by the Green Cathedral Choir lead by Wendy Ballard.
There's loads more fun to be had with old and new friends - with mind games, adult colouring and puzzles in Taree Library on Friday, April 13 from 10.30am, and card games at Wingham Library on Tuesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 12 from noon to 4.30pm.
Two hour painting workshops will be held from 10.30am – 12.30pm at Taree Library on Saturday, April 14, where participants will paint a bowl of fruit and at Harrington Library on Wednesday, April 11 where they will be painting a coral nook. Cost is $10 per workshop and includes all materials and morning tea.
There will also be talks on seniors rights at libraries right across the Mid Coast, hosted by a special guest from the Seniors Rights Service. You'll learn all about legal, advocacy and educational services available to you.
