The information sessions are being held in conjunction with MidCoast Council and will be held at Nabiac on Tuesday, March 20 and at Wingham on Wednesday, March 28 from 9.30am to noon.
“Weeds such as African Olive, Tropical Soda Apple and Giant Parramatta grass are a huge threat to the productivity and profitability of local farming properties here on the Mid Coast,” biosecurity officer with Hunter Local Land Services, Peter Fotheringham said,
“It is vital landholders are up to date with the most cost effective and long lasting control measures available, to combat these weeds and meet their general biosecurity responsibilities.
“Additionally, we will be offering landholders advice on the best control options for pest animals including wild dogs, foxes and feral pigs.”
Hunter Local Land Services is running more than 40 control programs for wild dogs and foxes in the Manning Great Lakes district in 2018 and there is still time for landholders to join in.
Participants can register for the information sessions via the Hunter Local Land Services website https://hunter.lls.nsw.gov.au/resource-hub/events
A range of free material on controlling invasive species will be on offer, as well as morning tea.
This event is funded through Catchment Action NSW, further information can be obtained by contacting Reegan Walker on 0429 361 781.
This event is in addition to the community information session on the draft Hunter Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan at Gloucester on Tuesday, March 19.
