The work is scheduled to start on Monday, March 19 and continue for four to six weeks, depending on the weather. 

Commencing at the end of the sealed section and extending about 4km west, the works involves full-width gravel resurfacing and grading, aimed at improving road conditions and sustaining the life of the road.

Crews will also undertake roadside drain maintenance and clearing, shoulder maintenance and slashing, and the renewal of guideposts and signage at the same time, to improve road safety.

“Gravel roads are an important part of our rural road network, and are targeted for maintenance on a cyclical basis,” MidCoast Council’s manager, operations north, Daniel Park said.

“While it makes sense to complement the resheeting work with safety improvements while the crews are on site, it does mean the Wallanbah Road project will impact local traffic over a period of up to six weeks”.

Reduced speed limits, changing road surfaces and lane closures will be in place, and travellers can expect minor delays of up to 10 minutes at times.

Motorists are asked to observe all roadworks signage, directions from road crews, and reduced speed limits, and to travel with caution through the area.
