The MidCoast Brickfest Lego exhibition was a hive of activity with about 2500 people coming through the doors, well up on last year.
Funds raised for the Hallidays Point Public School P and C also exceeded any other year as sponsorship covered costs for the first time.
Held at the Great Lakes College Tuncurry Campus, a new addition to the program was the speed building competitions, which spokesperson Sarah Stenning said were a hit.
“They ran every hour and some involved several rounds to ensure everyone got to participate,” she said.
“Participants were given three minutes to create. The Lego creations were then discussed and each round was judged by a different Lego exhibitor.
“It was a great chance for the kids to build alongside the exhibitors, have some fun and chat about their creations with the Rainbow Bricks team.
“The Lego themed prizes of course were welcomed!”
The ever-changing city layout build is always a drawcard of the show, with many walking away and returning each time and spotting something different.
“The exhibitors have a lot of fun on the detail!” she Sarah.
Also on show were large technic transporters and Star Wars ships, real size lightsabers, and the Mario brothers, amazing chess board builds, the Taj Mahal, dragons, brumbies, ostrichs and even a Lego picnic!
“The polar explorer attracted much attention as this build had even been to the south pole! We are super lucky to have Rainbow Bricks provide such creative displays each year.”
The Hallidays Point Lions Club cooked the barbecue and the P and C had its cake stall, creating a great day out and experience for local families.
Funds raised will help support the learning of students at Hallidays Point Public School.
While still open for discussion by the P and C and the community, some ideas for where the money will go include upgrading technology in some of the classrooms, replacing old sports equipment and pieces for the vege garden and creative playground space.
The organisers thank the generous businesses and organisations which sponsored the event.
