The team at MidCoast Council, in conjunction with MidWaste, will host workshops across the region that cover everything you need to know about making your own eco-cleaning products, and DIY all natural, reusable food wraps. And the common theme is you’ll save!

Kicking off next month, the popular Bees Wax Wrap workshop will be held on March 10 in Tea Gardens and March 17 in Tuncurry, where you’ll learn how to make your own plastic-free alternative to cling-wrap. Using all natural ingredients, the wraps are the perfect way to keep your food fresh, and best of all, they’re reusable. Attendees will make and take away three bees wax wraps and the know-how to make more when they get home.
A second workshop will show you how to make cleaning products for all areas of your home, using all natural ingredients like baking soda, lemon and vinegar. By avoiding commercially produced, chemical-based products, you’ll not only save on your next grocery bill, you’ll reduce toxins in your home environment, and help reduce environmental pollution caused by their manufacture and disposal.
“This workshop is great for families who are looking to reduce the use of harsh chemicals in their home”, MidWaste project officer Wendy Grant said. “People are surprised, once they learn about the right combination of ingredients, how effective these home-made cleaning solutions can be.”
Attendance at the Eco-Cleaning workshop is free, while Bees Wax Wrap workshops include a $20 registration fee for materials and equipment. All three workshops run for two hours.
