People around Australia have donated $190,810, to the family of three-year-old Alby Davis, who died tragically on Monday.
The sum far surpasses the initial $40,000 goal when the fundraising page was set up on Wednesday.
By Friday morning 6435 people had donated.
Social media posts say Alby was playing with some presents that had arrived for his fourth birthday party, and choked to death on a small ball.
The Coroner’s Office confirmed it had begun investigating the death of a child on Tasmania’s North-West Coast on Monday.
“As the matter is ongoing, no further information can be released at this stage,” a spokesperson said.
A family friend organised the fundraiser to help parents Simon and Anna Davis get through without financial stress.
The Gofundme page said Mr Davis was a relief teacher Mrs Davis ran an online business, The Small Folk.
Alby is survived by his two siblings, Sage and Acre.
