Beach and rock and outside fishermen have not had much of a chance to get out and catch a feed.
The spit at Harrington is the mouth of the river has provided the best conditions for beach anglers.
The inside of the spit provides fairly calm water for whiting and bream fishing.
Whiting are taking yabbies and beach worms while the bream will also eat those baits as well as mullet strips.
Some bream have also been caught on lures worked close to the surface.
Flathead are still being caught in the estuary with the best results coming from upstream around Croki and the mouth of the Lansdowne River.
No catches of mulloway have been recorded but with the full moon approaching they should move back into the river to chase the mullet, so that’s more good news for anglers.
The sea is on the way down and we should expect calm conditions in the next couple of days so the beaches can be fished in safety.
However, care must be taken when driving the beach as there are places where you can get cut off on a high tide as the water reaches right back to the wall at the back of the beach.
