Time to scrutinise the Big Four

With the Big Four banks presently "facing the music" re dodgy financial deals etc, it is time now to scrutinise the Big Four accounting firms advising government on how to cut spending to support the most vulnerable in our communities – Pricewaterhouse Coopers, EY, Deloitte, KMPG.

These firms have privileged access to the most powerful decision-makers in the country - our government.

The Australian Government has handed out more than $2.6 billion over the past 10 years in lucrative contracts to these firms behind the tax avoidance schemes uncovered in the "Paradise Papers".

In one room they are advising their wealthy clients on how to avoid Australian taxes and in the room next door calculating how government can impose more humiliation and anxiety on our most vulnerable.

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann put an immediate freeze on all government contracts with the Big Four accounting firms. Absolutely.

When injustice becomes law resistance becomes duty.

May the Force be with you.
