The runners up were Warwick Dunne, Steve Smith and Reg Wallace from the host club with skip Jason Aurisch from Black Head. Tuncurry won 27-17.
The winners opened up a commanding lead in the early ends and never looked in danger of defeat despite a late comeback by Aurisch’s team. Sargeant’s quartet earned a final berth the previous week when beating Bill Brett’s side in the semi-final, while Aurisch fought back to edge out Errol Ruprecht’s side 20-19.
The maximum 24 teams played in the popular competition that has a history stretching back 40 years.
