From 2019 the cup will be divided into northern and southern sections, with Port to host the northern matches while Wagga will be the venue for the southern fixtures.
Taree will have sides involved in all age groups this weekend.
“I’ll be disappointed if most of our sides don’t make it as far as the quarter finals,’’ Taree Touch president Graham Goodwin said.
Taree dominated at the Northern Eagles Junior Championships in Taree in October while three teams also progressed to the semi-finals of the Hunter championships at Nelson Bay a fortnight later.
“We’ve had two good carnivals to prepare, but this is another step up,’’ Mr Goodwin stressed.
The Taree sides started training in October and the majority of teams had their final run on Wednesday evening.
Matches start at 8am on Friday.
