“We’ve e-mailed all the clubs and we hope we’ll get support,’’ the club’s women’s sevens coach Brian Groughan said.
Old Bar continued their preparation for the season at the Crescent Head Sevens, which Groughan described as a ‘learning experience’ for his squad.
“There were some pretty experienced sides there and most of our girls have only had a couple of games at the gala days held at Taree and Nabiac last year,’’ he pointed out.
“We didn’t win a game but I could see the improvement in every match. A couple of our players couldn’t make it, but we still had 11 there.’’
Annie Taylor, who played with Gloucester in last season’s Mid North Coast sevens, was Old Bar’s best while Emma Ralph was the players’ player.
The Clams train Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Richard Crook Field at Old Bar.
Old Bar will play Forster in the opening round of the season.
