About 12.50pm Sunday, emergency services were called to the Barrington River at Rawdon Vale, about 40 kilometres from Gloucester.
Police have been told the woman, who had been kayaking, was walking through the water with her kayak when she was swept under the water by rapids.
The woman was stuck under a log for a short time.
