Emergency services were called to the house by the tenants just before 7am on Tuesday, January 30.
Fire and Rescue brigades from Wingham and Taree attended. Manning Great Lakes police, paramedics, and Essential Energy also attended the scene.
At the peak of the fire 14 firefighters were working on putting the fire out and trying to save the building.
The fire appears to have started in the garage and ground floor of the house and spread quickly upstairs. The majority of the house is damaged by heat, smoke and water.
Wingham Fire And Rescue’s Michael Davies said the fire took about an hour to put out.
“At this point in time the cause and point of original of the fire is unknown,” Michael said.
“It was a good result. No-one was hurt and it didn’t spread to neighbouring buildings.
Manning Great Lakes police and the crime squad are investigating.
