The Jamaican-American reggae star was supposed to perform on Saturday at Bimbadgen’s sold-out RNB Vine Days alongside Boyz II Men and TLC, but organisers announced on Monday that Shaggy had cancelled due to a “last minute media opportunity in the US”.
On Sunday the Boombastic and It Wasn’t Me hit-maker joined Sting on stage for the latter’s 1987 reggae song Englishman In New York and their joint single Don't Make Me Wait at the Grammys.
R’n’B act Blackstreet, who are famous for their hit No Diggity, will replace Shaggy for the RNB Vine Days tour.
“I’m disappointed to not celebrate RNB Vine Days with my fans, I love performing in Australia and hope to return soon and party old school,” Shaggy said in a statement.
Last Wednesday Shaggy pulled out of the One Love festival in New Zealand just days before the show.
