Wang Wauk is located inland from Forster between Coolongolook and Nabiac.
At 10.42am NSW Rural Fire Service units from Nabiac, Krambach and Taree responded to the structure fire on Wang Wauk Road, Wang Wauk.
A single dwelling was damaged by the fire which originated from a gas stove. No people were injured and there was no damage to properties nearby.
The property has a number of demountables similar to those found in schools and it was one of these that was destroyed.
As the hot weather continues this week the NSW RFS is urging the community to follow a number of simple tips to keep safe this summer:
At 11am on Tuesday (January 23) Forster’s temperature had already reached 30 degrees, exceeding the predicted maximum of 28.
Temperatures are predicted to remain in the high 20s through until Monday. Australia Day should see temperatures reach 27 degrees with the chance of a late shower.
The hottest day in Forster so far this month was on January 13 when it reached 35.5. Forster’s hottest January day on record was on January 18 last year when it reached 41 degrees.
