This follows the success of the inaugural run held on Saturday.

Organiser, Jeff Reardon from the North Coast Speedboat and Recreation Group said there were 12 boats in the run, with drivers coming from Sydney, Gunnedah, Queensland and the Mid North Coast area.

“It was incredible,’’ he said.

“The weather was perfect and it was certainly a spectacular sight.’’

He estimated that most drivers cruised the 90kms to Manning Point at around 45 miles per hour.

Jeff added that there were no major mechanical problems and all the boats made it back to Wingham after stopping for lunch at Manning Point.

“This was a first for most of the drivers. They’d never been for a run like this in their boats and never had the opportunity to have a good look at the river and surrounds,’’ he said.

“A few were concerned about fuel consumption but that turned out not to be a problem because they weren’t going flat out or towing skiers.’’

The group is planning future events and will organise on in the Clarence River at Grafton, possibly early next summer. However, Jeff said the Wingham to Manning Point run will definitely be on the calendar.

“It’ll be bigger next year,’’ he predicted.

“I’ve already had a few inquiries.’’
