The host association won all six boys divisions along with the under 12 girls while they were also runners up in two other girl’s grades. Boys and girl’s sides in under 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s took part in the two day championship.
Taree Touch president Graham Goodwin said he expected the association would perform strongly, but he admits to being surprised to make a clean sweep of the boys.
“We thought Macksville and Port Macquarie would be strong and they certainly were,’’ he said.
There were sides involved from outside the Northern Eagles area, but they couldn’t play for overall championships. Mr Goodwin now expects Taree players to be strongly represented in Northern Eagles sides to play in the State Regional Championships in Penrith. The squads will be announced following the State Junior Cup at Port Macquarie in February.
