Thrill ride: Liam Neeson stars in The Commuter, a twisted tale of blackmail and moral code violation with plenty of action to keep it throttling along at high speed.

Insurance salesman Michael MacCauley (Liam Neeson), works in midtown Manhattan. Fired right when he’s about to begin his return trip home to see his wife (Elizabeth McGovern) and son (Dean-Charles Chapman) in Westchester, Long Island, Michael loses his phone in the train station due to a pickpocket.

He then meets a mysterious stranger (Vera Farmiga), and is blackmailed into finding the identity of a hidden passenger on the train and planting a tracking device, at which point that person will be killed.

Michael will be rewarded once he completes his task. This would alleviate the financial burden he and his family would suffer now he’s been fired, so he is in a moral dilemma.

Working against the clock, he is caught up in a criminal conspiracy that carries life and death stakes for everyone on the train.

Also stars: Elizabeth McGovern, Dean-Charles Chapman, Patrick Wilson and Sam Neill.
