It has been held each year since 2013 on the last weekend in January to coincide with Australia Day. However, race director Rhett Pattison stood down from the position for this year and the club hasn’t been able to find a replacement.
Mr Pattison described this as ‘disappointing.’
“I’ve been doing it for five years and I can do without the stress of organising the tri each January,’’ Mr Pattison said.
The race usually attracted a field of around 100. It was consisted of a 500 metre swim in Crowdy Bay followed by a 20km cycle to Harrington and return and a 5km run, with the last 500 metres on Crowdy beach. Forster Tri Club previously conducted a race at Cundletown each January before deciding to switch to Crowdy Head.
“It’s just too hard for everyone to go up there,” Forster Tri Club president Dave Fitzhardinge told the Great Lakes Advocate.
