Manning continues to be productive for local and visiting anglers

THE Manning continues to fish well for the holiday anglers as well as locals.

School mulloway, flathead, whiting and bream have been bagged during the past week.

The mulloway are being caught on the high tide at night on live baits fished from the wall above the gantry.

Fish are around 8kgs. Heaps of flathead have been caught but quite a lot are undersized and have been returned to the water. Soft and hard bodied lures are taking most fish.

Whiting have been caught on the sand flat on yabbie bait and bream are taking mullet strips fished with a small sinker.

Chopper tailor can be caught from Crowdy beach but some are undersized and must be returned to the water. The best sized fish go 38cm.

Outside anglers have scored good snapper from the northern grounds and flathead on the drift.

Angler venturing out into the deep water have been boating some ooglies that are good to eat.
