Promoter, Mark O’Neill from the tavern, said this was down slightly on what he had hoped and he blamed the heatwave conditions for keeping patrons away. Mr O’Neill said he will speak with the Australian Camp Draft and Rodeo Association in the hope of switching the 2019 event to a Friday night.
However, Mr O’Neill said the rodeo will be held again next year. The program was bull riding only and attracted 69 entries, with bull riders from western NSW, the Hunter Valley and Tamworth along with North Coast centres taking part.
Australia’s No 1 rated bull rider Cody Heffernan won the open bull ride with Luke Parkinson from Denman taking out the novice. Joe McGrath from Kundabung won the junior bull ride.
