A $500,000 project will be undertaken on Albert Street, between Florence and Macquarie Streets.
New kerb and guttering will be installed along with the rehabilitation of the existing pavement with improved drainage and AC wearing surface.
MidCoast Council expects the works to begin before the end of January.
A 250 metre section of Pulteney Street, between Albert and Wynter Streets, will undergo a $1 million upgrade that will include the provision of new road pavement with improved drainage and AC wearing surface.
This project is expected to commence in February.
Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said the projects are well overdue.
“There are thousands of motor vehicles that pass through the Taree CBD each day, and I am delighted these two areas are now scheduled for a much need upgrade,” Dr Gillespie said.
“At a Federal level, we’ve increased funding for a number of programs including the Roads to Recovery program which is delivering millions of dollars towards local road projects in the MidCoast Council area.”
The projects are funded through the Roads to Recovery program.
The Federal Government funded program is providing $4.4 billion nationwide to improve the quality of roads.
