A summer reading list of locally written books wouldn’t be complete without a small book currently available at the Wingham Museum.

Playwright Maggie Young has always said the journey of Isabella The Play was a story that must be told.

Now the Wingham author proudly tells the tale in her book Isabella the Play, the Story, the Script and the Cell Block Theatre which was launched at the Wingham Museum in September.

Three years ago Maggie Young had the idea to bring local historical figure Isabella Mary Kelly to the Wingham stage.

The subsequent support she received from her new community and the success of Isabella the Play, both locally and in Sydney, become the focus of her book.

Designed by Wingham design studio Well Creative, the 40 page A5 book is littered with lovely photos and testimonials for Isabella The Play.

“This is a thank you to the community of Wingham,” said Maggie.

“It’s really wonderful how everyone got into this.”

Isabella the Play, the Story, the Script and the Cell Block Theatre is available to buy at the Wingham Museum located on Farquhar Street.
