They hope once people realise what they are doing is for charity, people will be less inclined to become ‘cranky’!
The rumble of hundreds of amassed motorcycles will begin in Wingham, where the bikes will assemble from 10.30 on Primrose Street. Anyone with a bike is invited, and registration will take place outside Wingham Cellarbrations.
After assembly and registration, the bikers will depart Wingham at 11am going up Isabella Street, and on to Wingham Road.
The route continues to Taree down Commerce Street, turns left at Wynter Street, continues all the way down to Stephenson Street and then right onto Victoria Street.
The convoy will than travel through Lansdowne and finish up at Hannam Vale School Reserve, where they will be met by the good folk from the Hannam Vale Salvos with food and drink available for the riders.
The Ulysses Club has a request for the giving public: less of the soft toys, and more of the things you’d give an older teenager.
“The older kids always seem to miss out,” Ulysses member Mick Simpson says.
Suggestions for gifts for teenagers are items such as gift vouchers, jewellery, makeup, cosmetics, hats, bags, older board games, music vouchers, books and clothing.
“Basically anything you’d buy your own teenager,” Mick says.
Last year the toy run raised $5000 in donations and raffles, apart from the toys that were donated. Mick says the club is hoping to raise that amount again, and anticipates around 250 riders will hopefully take part.
If you are unable to drop off donations to Wingham or Hannam Vale, you can arrange pick up of your donations this week by calling Mick on 0401 871 792.
