Former Glee actress Naya Rivera was released from police custody Sunday after being charged with domestic battery in Kanawha County, West Virginia.
For the Thanksgiving weekend, she and her husband, Pitch actor Ryan Dorsey, were with their 2-year-old son, Josey, in the town of Chesapeake, where Dorsey's family lives just outside Charleston.
On Saturday night, police were called to an address in Chesapeake for a domestic violence complaint, according to a statement posted online by the Kanwaha County Sheriff's Office. A sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene and spoke with Dorsey, who said his wife, Rivera, "struck him in the head and face."
According to the sheriff's report, Deputy T. Dubiel saw "minor injuries consistent with" Dorsey's statement. Dorsey also showed the officer a video of the incident supporting his statement
Rivera was arrested and taken into custody for booking. On Sunday morning, she was taken to Kanawha County Magistrate Court, where she was arraigned and bond was set at $1,000 (A$1313). She was then released from custody.
Rivera and Dorsey married in July 2014 and had been friends for at least four years before tying the knot. It was a surprise wedding that took place a few months after she ended her engagement to rapper Big Sean that spring.
In November 2016, Rivera filed for divorce but called it off in October 2017, filing a request to dismiss court papers.
She told People at an event after cancelling the divorce: "It is what it is, but I'm glad that my family is together."
