The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene just before 7pm in response to information that the man had fallen some distance.
When the chopper arrived it winched in a doctor and paramedic. They found a 20-year-old suffering injuries including a broken ankle.
He was treated by the doctor and paramedic then winched into the chopper and flown to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
