“Outstanding fighting spirit” describes the effort of the St Clare’s High School U15 boys team that competed in the Australasian National Futsal Championships, according to coaches Matthew Collier and Laurent Gonford.

The team travelled to Brisbane to take part in the championships which kicked off on November 9 and ended on November 13, and saw teams present from Catholic and public schools from all over Australia.

“Our team showed outstanding fighting spirit in all their pool games, seven in total, unfortunately missing out on the finals on the last day and finishing sixth overall,” Mr Collier said.

“It was fantastic to see the boys encouraging each other and showing good sportsmanship to our opposing teams and to themselves.  Congratulations to every single player.”

“Each made a superb effort on and off the court and it was a pleasure to coach them during the tournament.  Well done!” Mr Gonford added.
