That was the message from local member, Stephen Bromhead who officially opened the Tuncurry Community Recycling Centre (CRC) on Friday, November 17.
“The centre will complement the community’s existing recycling services, minimise waste and increase recycling,” Mr Bromhead said.
“Establishing this recycling facility will help the NSW Government keep problem wastes out of landfill and help reduce illegal dumping.”
The centre was established by MidCoast Council with funds from the State government’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.
Waste Less, Recycle More is a government initiative designed to keep waste out of landfill, increase food and garden waste collections, boost business recycling and invest in new infrastructure.
Mayor David West acknowledged the team effort from staff and councillors of the former Great Lakes Council, and MidCoast Council.
The CRC accepts water-based and oil-based paints, used motor oils and other oil, lead-acid and hand-held batteries, gas cylinders and fire extinguishers, conventional tube and compact fluorescent lamps, smoke detectors and E-waste and mobile phones free of any charges.
