THERE was a double celebration at Taree St Joseph’s Primary School this week following twin wins at the NSW Catholic Primary Schools Basketball Championships in Goulburn.

Joeys scored an emphatic win in the girl’s division one competition and backed this up with victory in division four boys.
The girls, coached by Steve Atkins, were unbeaten in six matches. The opening three games were to determined the division the side played in and Joeys clinched a berth in division one.
From here the side dominated the quarter-final and semi-final played the following day to set up a showdown with Queanbeyan in the final. Joeys again proved a class above the opposition here, winning 38-10.
Team members were Janarlia Dumas, Olivia Marshall, Charlotte Nguyen, Hannah Chicken, Josephine Stewart, Danneyah Glass, Kirra Simon, Mariah Radburn, Amarley Bron and Bridie Cooper. Miranda Bourke was the manager and Steve Atkins the coach.
The boys earned a place in fourth division following the qualifying games before cruising through to the final. Here they dominated, opening up a 32 point lead before play was called off.
Team members were Ashton Molloy, Trent Gibney, Sam Walet, Connor Clarke, Boyd Stephen, Bailey Osmond-Dreyer, Macklin Green, Darcy Radburn with Miranda Bourke the manager and Elisha Radburn the coach.
