Ben Cole and Josh Davis will be back for tomorrow's game against Kempsey side Rovers at Laurieton. They’ll be joined by a number of players who missed last week’s batting debacle against Taree West, when Wingham could only manage 20 in the match at Johnny Martin Oval.
Skipper Ben Scowen admitted the effort was ‘embarrassing’ but he did say Wingham were well short of their full strength XI.
“It’s been frustrating because we’ve struggled all season to have our best side available,’’ Scowen said.
“But that should change from now.’’
Cole returns to the fold after playing with Old Bar for the past four seasons, while Davis had a delayed start to this campaign.
“I rate Ben and Josh as two of the top five players in the district,’’ Scowen said.
Wingham will now have a wealth of talent in their top order and after an indifferent start, Scowen is confident the side will start to turn their side around from this weekend. However, he added this is an important match for his side.
“This is a must-win game for us,’’ he said.
“Laurieton is a bit of an unknown proposition, but I’ve heard it’s a pretty good ground and wicket.’’
Rovers sit in equal last place on the ladder.
