A relaxing day at the home of Garry and Shirley Tyrie was enjoyed by the Upper Lansdowne Garden and Social Club at their last outing.

Members shared a delectable barbecue lunch and a stroll around the garden which had been refreshed by the recent rain.
There was a variety of interesting plants from beautifully crafted Bonsai to an assortment of interesting flowering Cacti.
This month the group will continue to enjoy the pleasure of gardening with a visit to Bob and Carol Coombe's garden.

Music concert
The Fred Smith and Mat Brooker in concert is on this Sunday November 19 at the Upper Lansdowne Hall. The matinee will commence at 2pm. Tickets are $25 and under 18 years are free.
Fred is a regular favourite at festivals around the country and Mat is a local Port Macquarie lad made good with a string of festive appearances and a CD under his belt.

Lansdowne Public School
Lansdowne school awards were presented to the following students at their school assembly.
Class K12: Student of the Week was awarded to Dakota Witchard for his outstanding behaviour in classroom activities.
Class awards to Clayton Radley for being a caring classmate and Jaya Bell for trying hard in literacy groups.
Fast Maths award to Alex Emerton for consistent effort and Artist award to Rhys Currie for his “Train” artwork.
Class 3/4 Student of the Week award was awarded to Axel Whyte for trying hard in all classroom tasks.
Class Awards to Tiara Hayes for settling into her classroom and new school and Cheyenne Witchard for settling back into classroom routine.
Fast Maths award to Thomas Newman for making great efforts to complete Fast maths tasks. Artist award to Theo Huber for his “White Christmas” artwork.
Class Award 5/6: Student of the Week Award to Graham Morrison for his caring commitment.
Class Awards to Caleb James for his excellent story writing and completing tasks on time and Quinn Huber for his smooth transition back to school after his long holiday.

Football Club
Lansdowne Football Club has held its annual general meeting and elected the following committee for 2018: Renae Sheather (vice president), Tianne Sheather (secretary), Sally Wares (treasurer), general committee Carol Potts (registrar), Anne Sawyer (canteen manager), Shawn Greenshields and Wayne Burns.
The president position is taken to be a casual vacancy.

Soil project
The ANZAC Soil project is an initiative of the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park Sydney which is gathering soil samples from every town across NSW where enlistees for World War I called home.
Last Friday Upper Lansdowne school student Jackson and Jasper collected soil sample from beneath their old school tree.
The boys selected this location because the tree would have been alive during World War 1.
Their soil sample will be to be placed in a specially designed glass canister, labelled with their town’s name and displayed in the Hall of Service which will be opened by Remembrance Day 2018.
This date marks 100 years since the signing of the Armistice that brought WWI to an end.
Bowling and Recreation Club
The Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club are holding the mighty mega month of raffles with 43 hams, 193 meat and chicken trays, 37 seafood trays as well as extra members draws to be won. Prizes to be won over the month of December. Tickets go on sale 5.30pm Fridays and Saturdays and 12.30pm on Sundays.
Social darts
Lansdowne Friday evening social darts results were winner Wayne Bell and runner up was Ruth Adams.
Ladies highest score was won by Ruth Adam on 97 and men’s highest score winner was Clint McLaughlin on 120.
Players wanted
Lansdowne Men’s Bowling Club is looking for players for its 2018 pennants sides.
If anyone is interested in playing in the sixes and sevens teams, please phone John Garwood on 0407 099 200 as soon as possible. The teams must be in before the end of this month.
