Flathead and bream on the bite

THE estuary and off shore areas are fishing quite well but the beaches are not providing any worthwhile results.

Flathead are to be caught in all parts of the Manning and bream have returned to their favourite haunts after spawning.

Bream can be caught on soft plastics, hard bodied lures and bait by fishing along the rock walls; around the oyster racks and near any moorings or wharves in the river.

Flathead are falling to soft plastics and bait  – mainly mullet strips.

Mangrove crabs have been turning up consistently for the past couple of weeks.

There are a few whiting on the beaches but no tailor at present.

Outside anglers have scored good snapper from the northern grounds and a few bonito on trolled lures.
