The area’s finest cattle, craft and country hospitality will welcome visitors to the Bulahdelah Showground for the annual Bulahdelah Show on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18.

Voted one of the top 10 shows in NSW this little gem has been going non-stop since the Bulahdelah Show Society re-started the annual show in 1983.

“We’ve had some lovely rain and the showground is looking beautiful,” said show secretary/treasurer Bernadette Newton.

New this year is a rare chook display thanks to AvGen Poultry of Mudgee.

The result of possibly the largest rare breed preservation project of its kind in the world these pure bred chickens are on tour and ready to fluff their feathers for Bulahdelah.

Also new is the FMX KAOS International Motorcycle Freestyle Team who will perform two shows on the Saturday at 2.30pm and 7pm.

If you are in need of more motorised thrills then check out the Mower Mulisha on Saturday at 11.30am and 4.30pm.

Also known as the Midcoast Mower Racing Club, the Mower Mulisha will knock your socks off with what they manage to do on a lawn mower. 

Most of the club’s members have been involved in the sport of mower racing for more than eight years and have been competing on a regular basis.

Mayor David West will officially open the show at 2pm on Saturday but gates open as early as 7am on both days.

There are all the usual family favourites including horse events and dressage, campdraft, rodeo, working dog trials, a baby animal farm, sideshows, beef cattle judging and even a championship dog show and pet show.

But it is in the pavilions that things get really interesting. 

“Our pavilions are probably our show piece,” said Bernadette.

“They are so well organised.”

Sewing, flowers, cakes, cooking, produce, honey, jams/preserves, photography, works of art and craft will all be on display.

There is even a children’s section which Bernadette descibed as “just brilliant.”

Each year these hard working exhibitors vye for some coveted ribbons and bring together a wonderful selection of country goodies for visitors to delight in. 

The show concludes on Saturday night with the demolition derby at 7.30pm and fireworks at 9pm.
