Dual Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown joined in the interview via a phone link. This was organised by Manning Valley Race Club chairman Greg Coleman, who was the guest on the segment.
Just days earlier Brown secured his second cup on Rekindling, having won in 2009 on Shocking. Brown hails from Wingham and started his apprenticeship in Taree with trainer Eric Anderson has a 15-year-old.
Brown confirmed he will be available to attend Manning Valley Race Club’s official launch on Thursday January 4.
Meanwhile, Mr Coleman discussed the processes involved in forming the new club which followed an amalgamation of the Taree-Wingham and Krambach clubs. He spoke positively about the future of the Manning Valley club and the changes he's experienced in the racing game locally – from when meetings were predominately held on Saturdays in country areas to the multi-million dollar business that his is now. He also outlined the problems the club encountered on Melbourne Cup Day when a power surge blacked out TV screens at the track.
Friday Sport Talk will return next week.
