This will be held at the Manning River Hotel at 6pm.
Taree City official Scott Jacklin will convene the meeting. He understands there was an attempt to form an Old Boys club previously and this was largely unsuccessful. However, he hopes the latest incarnation will attract a wider range of ages.
“It will be open to anyone involved with any of the Taree rugby league clubs – United, (Taree) Old Bar, Taree Rhinos, South Taree or Cundletown as well as Taree City Bulls,’’ he said.
“Hopefully we’ll get get a good cross section of ages – from players who were involved with Taree United and Old Bar through to the Bulls.’’
He is hoping a number of former Taree City players will become involved. Formed in 1998, there are now a number of ex-Bulls in the area and Mr Jacklin said this is a way for them to stay in touch with the club.
A focal point of the group will be attending Taree City games although he said other functions will be organised.
Mr Jacklin pointed out Old Boys groups work successfully in other areas of Group Three, particularly Wingham and Wauchope, where there are strong clubs.
He’s hoping for a strong turnout next Tuesday night to give the club a positive launch.
