Drake has been collecting Birkin bags for his future wife

They say money can't buy you love, but it can help you build a collection of one of the world's most expensive bags as a gift to your future wife. And with a reputation for going all out in the name of love, Drake has done just that.

While the rapper, who is currently touring Australia, "deflected questions about his love life," including around his former relationships with Rihanna and J-Lo, the rapper casually revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he has been acquiring a collection of Hermès Birkin bags for years, which he hopes to gift to "the woman I end up with."

Drake revealed his Birkin bag collection is growing.

Drake revealed his Birkin bag collection is growing.

The Birkin bag, conceived 33 years ago when Jane Birkin complained to Hermès boss, Jean-Louis Dumas over the lack of leather weekend bags on the market, now fetch $5,000 to $300,000 (AU$6512-$390750), with some versions very hard to come by. It has been reported in the past that the bags are a better investment than stocks or gold.

The 31-year-old didn't offer much more information around the logistics of his collection, where they are stored and how many years ago his idea came into fruition. But perhaps he has been dropping clues over the years with various Jane Birkin references in his work, including the track Tell Your Friends.

The interview took a more serious turn when Drake discussed turning down a request to be part of a Harvey Weinstein production, because of "bad feedback". The star however didn't elaborate whether or not he and his co-partner in the project, Future, were informed of any cases of sexual assault at the time.

On another note, the star also spoke candidly about his love for the Harry Potter series, with the rapper chasing down a first edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

"Yeah I read them all," he told The Hollywood Reporter of the J.K. Rowling series.

"I should get [the book]. My birthday's coming up. Maybe I'll buy it for myself as a treat."

Back to the Birkin vault, given his sartorial achievements to date, including the red Moncler puffer jacket in his Hotline Bling music video, which he also avoided questions about, it's almost certain the fashion aficionado has curated the collection carefully.

"You just got to call the kid and find out," he told The Hollywood Reporter, when asked whether he was in a relationship, or who served as the inspiration for the track.
