With Christmas just around the corner, The Salvation Army is encouraging Taree locals to connect with their community; whether it’s participating in Christmas activities, reaching out for help, or giving to people in crisis.

“Christmas can be a challenging and lonely time for some, and we don’t want anyone to have to go it alone,” Taree Salvation Army officer, captain Louise Beamish said.
“Through the incredible generosity of our local community, we were able to assist many families and individuals in need last year.”
“The Salvos plan to help even more people this year, so we are gearing up to Christmas. We would like to encourage those who are able, to embrace the spirit of giving this Christmas.”
Christmas is the busiest time of year for the Salvos. Not only is The Salvation Army in Taree running its Christmas Cheer operation to provide toys and food for those in need, it is also holding preparing for special Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.
“We will need all hands on deck this Christmas, so join us and give hope where it’s needed most. Whether it’s by donating or volunteering just a few hours of your time, you can make a meaningful difference and bring comfort and joy to Aussies doing it tough.”
New quality toy donations can be dropped off at Taree Family Store, 67 Pulteney Street, Monday to Friday from 9am – 3:30pm.
Emergency supplies, gifts and assistance will also be available for those in need, by calling 6551 2570.
The Salvation Army is inviting the public to gather to celebrate the hope and joy of Christmas.
The Salvos Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services will be held at Taree Salvation Army at 55 Manning Street and everyone is welcome to attend. Both services will commence at 9:30am.
“Our service is family friendly and a great way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. There will be fun activities for the kids and a real festive atmosphere, so come along and join us!”
If you’re able to give to The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, $29 can provide a box of emergency supplies or put a gift under the tree for someone in need.
“Everyone’s circumstances are different, so giving money rather than goods helps us support each person in the way that will help them the most.”
