The bikes are expected to arrive at the Krambach Hotel around noon, where the riders will enjoy lunch before they hit the road again around 2pm towards North Haven.
The six-day charity ride starts at the Newcastle Yacht Club in Wickham and will travel through Krambach, North Haven, Bellbrook, Armidale, Inverell, Attunga, Gunnedah, Wallabadah and Scone before returning to Newcastle 12.30pm, Friday, November 10.
Kids in need in regional NSW will have access to more opportunities to reach their full potential thanks to the more than 40 Honda CT110 Postie bike riders taking part in the 2017 Dash.
The ‘posties’ aim to raise more than $135,000 for kids living with disabilities, chronic illness or who are facing financial or geographic disadvantage.
“The Variety Postie Bike Dash is a fun way for those with a sense of adventure to help ensure kids in need in regional areas like the Hunter, Mid North Coast and New England get a fair go in life,” Variety – the Children’s Charity head of regional development, Jason Bourke said.
“The money raised by our posties goes a long way to giving the schools visited vital resources such as sensory and play equipment, reading systems and specialist computers which they might not otherwise have access to.”
The event is sponsored by First National Real Estate and Principal of First National Newcastle, George Rafty is excited their company can help give back to Aussie kids in need.
“The team at First National Newcastle City are honoured to support the Variety Postie Bike Dash,” Mr Rafty said.
“Kids are our future and we are thrilled to be able to support a unique and fund event that raises funds to support the work of Variety which makes such a big difference in the Hunter and across NSW.“
“We wish the 40 odd riders from all over Australia the best of luck and hope they travel safe and meet their fundraising goals.”
Variety – the Children’s Charity believes all kids deserve a fair go in life. By providing practical equipment, programs and care, Variety helps kids achieve their full potential regardless of ability or background.
