One week remains for the Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Life First campaign.
Taree Fire Station Commander Peter Willard said a career with Fire and Rescue NSW is both family friendly and rewarding.
Applicants are required to be fit and healthy, with plenty of training available upon employment.
Commander Willard added that the job presents multiple opportunities for community interaction and engagement.
All successful applicants will spend a period of time based in Sydney before being able to be transferred.
FRNSW Commissioner, Paul Baxter QSO, said the campaign was designed to attract a diverse range of applicants from all industries and fields.
“We need people with problem solving abilities, who enjoy team work, are resilient, have good judgement and are motivated,” he said.
“By creating a broader view of a ‘firefighter’, we can tap into more skills, more capability and more talent.
“We want to attract people who might not otherwise consider joining fire and emergency services.
“Firefighters help anyone, anywhere, anytime.
“They respond to any emergency and are also passionate about safety, education and prevention.”
About 700 to 800 applications are made nationwide for around 100 jobs.
