Joining the line-up for Spotlight on Taree Arts Council II is Jodi Cooper, who comes from a musical family on both sides.

The youngest of six children, Jodi said from the age of four or five she would join in with her siblings as they would sing and harmonise and entertain their parents’ friends.
She started singing lessons at the age of 11 with Val Audet and did her first musical that year with Taree Arts Council, playing one of the Von trap children in The Sound of Music.
She started competing in eisteddfod’s that year too and did various singing competitions locally, including in Port Macquarie where she sang with her eldest sister doing duets and won recording studio time in Sydney (she was 13 at the time).
Music and performing has continued to play a large part in her life.
In her teens she played chorus roles in “Little Shop of Horrors” and “The Pajama Game”, and then at 19 played the lead role of the jilted bride Anjelina in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury”.
Jodi has emceed and sang for a living at weddings and other venues including a promotional tour with Home and Away.’
She sang at the Sports Man Super Show for prominent sports stars at Sydney Olympic Park, a charity concert at Big Brother House on the Gold Coast and various cancer fundraisers (her grandmother passed from cancer and doing this is important to her).
Jodi has two children who are school age and a massively supportive husband.
Most recently she played the children’s mother in Taree Arts Council’s production of Mary Poppins and also had a role in Ariana Shneider’s Crystal Dreaming.
Performances of Spotlight on Taree Arts Council II are at St Mary’s Hall, Taree, on Sunday October 29 at 2pm and Tuesday October 31 at 11am. Tickets are $20 non concession and $15 concession and are available at Bass’n’Blues in Taree.
