Letter to the editor

As a regular visitor to the beautiful Great Lakes and Manning areas, I’m a litter picker-upper.

I am appalled at the number of cigarette butts I find beside roads, footpaths and even near garbage bins.

I am also appalled at the number of accidents that are caused whilst people are smoking whilst driving.

Isn’t it time smoking was barred outdoors in public areas.I’m sure this would save a lot of fires being started as after such a warm winter and so little rain, we sure are in for a hot summer and goodness knows how many fires.

Wouldn’t it be safer for a good many people to have smoking whilst driving banned.
