It’s an exciting night for local dance fans and for some of the younger ones it will be the first time they’ve seen this extraordinary company, deemed to be one of the best in the world.
We are so fortunate to be included in their regional tour, and their policy of visiting far flung towns around Australia has made world class ballet accessible to those who might not otherwise ever experience it.
“Giselle” is to be performed tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30, and at the time of writing there were a handful of tickets left.
It’s a magnificent finale to our 2017 Season, and we look forward to seeing all those keen patrons who snapped up tickets early in the year.
A Thanks to Our Wonderful Volunteers
Last Thursday evening we held an informal information night and get-together for our marvellous group of volunteers.
Regular patrons of the Manning Entertainment Centre would be familiar with many of these tireless workers who donate their time, energy to welcome, assist and serve audiences during their visits.
Many of them go above and beyond the call of duty, devising ways to help new volunteers learn the ropes faster, and going the extra mile to help patrons in many small ways. Without them we simply could not function.
There have been times when we’ve called on individuals to make up the numbers at the last moment. No doubt a few hot dinners have been abandoned or hastily piled into Tupperware containers to be eaten later.
For your dedication and cheerful service, we say a huge thank you!
Items on the evening’s agenda included emergency evacuation procedures, sharing patron feedback and information about our hopes for future development of the Manning Entertainment Centre.
There was a good deal of laughter amidst the more serious topics, with a very lively discussion ensuing from the idea that a committee be formed to look into a volunteers uniform.
Some of the more light hearted suggestions included tutus and bikinis (obviously mankinis for the gents). I will follow the committee’s progress with some interest.
The session was followed by a light supper where many present met the indefatigable Deb Tuckerman, MidCoast Council head of economic development, for the first time.
