Cordner, a lock, was also selected in the Newcastle Rugby League team of the year. The 27-year-old linked with the Butcher Boys this year after playing intermittently for Taree City in 2016, where his appearances were limited due to injury and work commitments in the Newcastle area.
Cordner also won the Central Charlestown players’ player award. He has signed for the club for 2018. Central finished third, beaten in the final by eventual premiers Macquarie United. This was the club’s best result in years.
Craig Miller, a member of Taree Old Bar’s Group Three premier side of 1988, coached Central.
Cordner has signed for the club for 2018. He previously played with Lakes United while he also had stints with the Newcastle and Sydney Roosters under 20s teams. He played junior football for Old Bar and Taree Panthers.
