A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a male in a crash near Taree overnight.

Around 2.30am Saturday, October 14, a vehicle crashed on Cedar Party Road at Cedar Party which is between Taree and Wingham.
As a result of the single vehicle crash a 17-year-old male passenger was killed.
An 18-year-old male, also a passenger in the vehicle, was conveyed to Manning Hospital with minor injuries.
The 20-year-old male driver was taken to Taree Police Station and was assisting with inquiries after undergoing mandatory blood and urine testing.
The vehicle had come to the attention of police shortly before crashing.
Cedar Party Road remained closed while investigators examine the crash scene and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
Police said a critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
That investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.
