With the creation of the new league, Scowen said it is difficult to prepare for a side they are yet to face off with.
“You can only go off last week’s and last year’s results,” he said.
“You don’t know their strengths and weaknesses.”
He added that by batting first, it is difficult to set a total due to the lack of knowledge of the opposition’s batting line-up.
“I’d probably like to chase runs this year,” he said.
He was pleased with the squad’s performance against Nulla, particularly Matt Essery, 16-year-old first change bowler Brodie Guppy and middle order workhorse Mick Stinson.
“It was great to get the season off to a good start,” Scowen said.
He felt they finished about 40 runs short last round based on their early game form.
“We got off to a good start but then we started to throw our wickets away,” he said.
“We were scoring eight or nine runs in the first 12 overs.”
Scowen is hopeful more players will be added to the roster before Christmas, such as Josh McTaggert who is battling back issues. He was unsure of the make up of the starting 11 at time of print. First ball will be at 1pm at Cedar Party Reserve.
Other round two fixtures will include United against Taree West, Port Panthers Pirates will play Port City Leagues Magpies and Nulla will face the Rovers.
