Manager, Dawn Currie, said the business started the initiative last year in the Taree area. This Christmas it will be expanded to include Forster-Tuncurry.

Dawn said Wiseberrys will be seeking donations from the public to help stock the hampers.

“We’re happy to accept items like tinned food, or cash donations to buy items,’’ Dawn explained.

She said the hampers will be distributed through assistance from organisations including the women’s refuge to ensure they go to those in need.

“Christmas can be a tough time for many people,’’ Dawn added.

“We’re hoping to make it a little easier for them.’’
